We will continue to practice jotting/gisting while we read, and identifying nonficiton text features. We will focus on determining character traits for the people we are reading about, and back it up with text evidence. We will take our Narrative Nonfiction post test at the end of the week. Math: This month has been all about Fractions! This week we will take our knowledge about fractions and begin comparing with like and unlike denominators. Ask your students if they would like 1/6th of a candybar or 1/8th of a candybar? Science: Students have been learning all about SPACE! They will now take their learning into their major project of our solar system unit! This week students will be learning about specific characteristic about each of the planets and then their group will construct a model to display their learning on a specific planet of their choosing. We cannot wait to see what the students design. Students can use: Shadow Puppet to explain, Make a model, or slide show to showcase their knowledge. Social Studies: We will continue working on our unit of Financial Literacy. Talk with your children about how we stay Financially Fit! Homework: Read 20 minutes every night and complete Reading Response Page, NO DREAMBOX or ISTATION for digital Citizenship week!

We are also working on jotting while reading, and finding important details within the text. In writting we began our research project, and will be collecting data throughout the week. Math: Fractions! Fractions! All About Fractions! This week we will be taking a closer look at fractions by using our basic knowledge and incorporate this into our learning of numberlines! Science: Students have begun their unit on Spcae! Last week we learned all about our star, the Sun! This week we will work on the Earth, Sun and the Moon!
